Agriculture

ANN believes that with so much soil and climatic diversity in Nigeria; large arable land and water resources; millions of young Nigerians full of energy and enterprise, agriculture presents Nigeria the opportunity to farm our way to prosperity.

  • ANN will work with the Legislature, relevant MDAs, CBN, States, LGAs, the private sector and Nigerians to create conditions within the “Nigerian Economy that Works for All” to promote farming, looking at tax incentives; land property-rights for small holder farms; low-interest financing for agriculture; foreign exchange priority and waivers for import of agricultural machinery and inputs, that are not yet manufactured in Nigeria; supplies of improved seedlings and fertilisers; supplies of animal feeds; and access to organised local and international markets.
  • ANN will work with the Legislature, relevant MDAs, CBN, States, LGAs, the private sector and Nigerians to create conditions within “Nigerian Economy that Works for All” to promote investments in the handling of primary agricultural products; warehousing and logistics; processing; packaging; quality standards; and distribution value chains to local and international markets.
  • ANN will work with the Legislature, relevant MDAs, CBN, States, LGAs, the private sector and Nigeria, to gradually reduce importation and dependence on finished agricultural products; but would allow some raw and semi-finished products to input into value chains in Nigeria to contribute to the creation of decent tax-paying jobs.
  • ANN will work with the Legislature, CBN, States, LGAs, the private sector and Nigerians, to provide training and extension support to farmers across Nigeria, for all year round farming and improved/increased yield to input.
  • ANN will work with the Legislature, CBN, States, LGAs, tertiary institutions, the private sector and Nigerians to intensify research in agriculture for industry and nutrition for primary consumption.
  • ANN will work with the Legislature, CBN, States, LGAs, tertiary institutions; the private sector and Nigerians to develop an information database for agriculture; and enable open and public access to information using secure access portals.
  • ANN will work with the Legislature, CBN, States, LGAs, the private sector and Nigerians, to leverage on agriculture for rural development improving local services, building local and inclusive economies, strengthening Local Governance and generally strengthening local communities.
